Summer 2011 / Rochester, Michigan

Janani and Alex crossed paths for the first time in middle school (crazy, we know!) when they were both shy teenagers. They had a few classes together and spoke once in a while but were not close until Alex messaged Janani on Facebook—the real start of their friendship. They talked the summer before high school away, quickly becoming best friends.

11.26.13 / Rochester, Michigan

By the end of grade school, the pair were inseparable. Much later, when they realized they had no date to mark the start of their relationship, they retroactively chose the date they remembered as the most fun that fall.

8.8.15 / Ann Arbor, Michigan

Janani and Alex begin college at the University of Michigan, College of Engineering. They spent the next four years making unforgettable memories with their closest friends (you'll see several of them in the bridal party!), filled with laughs, love, late nights, and lots of shenanigans.

2019 - 2021 • New York City, New York

After college, their careers pulled the two in different directions. Janani moved to New York, putting over 600 miles between them. For two years, work and other obstacles kept them apart, but they visited each other often, and made lots of beautiful memories in the city.

12.6.21 • Chicago, Illinois

Alex moved to Chicago, where Janani had been living for the past 6 months, finally closing the distance between them. Both lived in apartments in Gold Coast just a 7 minute walk apart, close to the lake and lots of good food. The two of them still live in Chicago and love it.

7.2.24 • Sorrento, Italy

Janani and Alex traveled to Italy for their first trip abroad. The first night in Sorrento, Alex had planned a visit to the ruins of an ancient Roman villa, which turned out to be a cliffside overlooking the ocean and coast. In that stunning spot, he proposed and she said yes (after some tears and laughs)!

1.2.25 • Hyderabad, India

Alex visited India for the first time, traveling with Janani and her family. They started in Delhi to shop and do some sightseeing, then headed to Hyderabad and had a gorgeous engagement party under the stars. Alex got to meet Janani's whole family and friends and eat tons of good food.
